Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am aiming to run/ walk/ cycle (or dance) the total of 53 miles (this is the distance travelling around the edge of Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster, the boroughs that I work in) by the end of March.
Over the past six months I have struggled with my own mental health, experiencing both anxiety and depression. At the age of 35 this was very new to me and having gone through such a situation, it is only now I fully appreciate how debilitating such an illness can be. It has (and still is) taking me time to fully understand the complexity of my mind and the way it thinks. As well as this, poor mental health for me, has led to a number of physical effects and I have come to realise that the mental and physical really can't be separated. 53 miles might not sound like a lot and I used to do that amount easily in a month, but this is now a real challenge for me.
I have had brilliant support around me from family, friends and professionals with ongoing medication and therapy - all of which have been entirely necessary for me through this difficult time. My current employer (Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster) have been exceptionally understanding and fully supportive during my absence from work.
With all of this in mind it is my hope to raise money for the charity who do so much to help those who don't have the same access to the support that I have. It will also give me an additional challenge to focus on as I continue to recover.
Thank you for any support you feel you may be able to give.
