Story
I am helping to raise money for PCUK, and have already completed the 10,000 steps a day in November with my four legged friend Dave, to help support the research into ways of detecting this silent cancer earlier.
My mum was diagnosed in late July with metastatic pancreatic cancer, that had spread to her liver and bones and within a week she was receiving chemotherapy, to try to prolong the quality of life, overall wellbeing and reduce the constant pain she has been in. After several set backs and hospital stays, clots had spread around her body and Mum passed away at home with us beside her on 17 December, exactly 5 months to the day from being diagnosed.
This has been a huge emotional rollercoaster and is still a huge shock to all of us and still very roar to deal with.
The funeral was held on 18 January, and donations to PCUK were made from friends and family. I am pleased to say we raised £265.00 which will go to this great charity.
I have now signed up for the Jog 28 days in February and would love to do the Shine walk in September, to keep raising money to help support the research into this cancer.
All donations would be hugely appreciated and every little bit will help. Thank you for all your support and contributions and thank you to my family and friends who have been there for me, as a shoulder to cry on and help me deal with such shocking news.
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
