Story
18 months ago this would still have been a challenge, just less so than it is today - lots has changed since then.
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month and I’m pledging to do something active everyday to raise awareness of this increasingly prevalent disease for the Bowel Cancer UK Step Up for 30 Campaign.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer, and the second biggest cancer killer, in the UK.
It is is also becoming more common among the young. Which, together with the lack of screening available for the under 50s, means that can often be diagnosed at a later stage within this age group.
Positively, more people are surviving bowel cancer thanks to funding and research, and, if diagnosed early, it can be highly treatable, and curable.
Bowel Cancer UK are committed to working towards a future that supports earlier diagnosis, helps improve the lives of those living with bowel cancer and, ultimately, work towards a world where everybody survives this disease.
It is for this reason I am pledging to do something active every day throughout April, to raise awareness, and hopefully a little bit of money, to contribute to this funding and research.
If from doing this I can positively impact one person, one family, then it will be worth every moment.
