Story
Thank you for visiting our page. We are Team Ally—Amanda Phillips, along with sisters Rachel and Sarah Griffiths, and family friends Janet Brierley Crompton, Nery's Donaldson, Diana Popescu, and Richard Graham.
In April, we lost Amanda's wonderful daughter, Ally Phillips, to Sarcoma. Ally was 33. She was first admitted into hospital on February 23, 2022 after experiencing persistent back pain. Once Ally was admitted, it became clear that there were other medical issues going on. After a few weeks she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and very aggressive form of Sarcoma. Ally was transferred to The Christie Hospital, Manchester, for expert sarcoma treatment. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the doctors and Ally's optimism and determination, she passed away on April 20, 2022. She was surrounded by her family and fiancé. We all miss her.
In honour of Ally, her life, and her beautiful spirit, we will be running the Edinburgh Women's/Men's 10K on October 23 to raise money for Sarcoma UK. Amanda, Ally's Mum, and Janet are currently completing a couch to 5K (to 10K) program—they haven't run since they were children. It's going to be a challenge for us all, but we're determined! We don't want any more families to have to go through this and suffer a similar tragedy. So, we're doing what we can to raise awareness and funds to prevent it.
Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting Team Ally, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep their Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Thank you for your support,
Go Team Ally!
