Story
This years St Giles Solstice walk is the 30th anniversary and they are attempting to get into the record books by making it the largest gethering of fairies in one place - hoping for over 1000 this year.
My reason for walking is in memory of the loss of a member of my extended family - Maureen was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was nursed at home by her wonderful family which made her last few weeks extremely special. It was due to the help and advice of the St Giles nurses that this was possible, Maureen spent her last two weeks in St Giles in Lichfield where she was cared for in a very calm and tranquil atmosphere which was very important for her family Maureen passed on 28th Novemeber 2011 and was 57 years old - she is sorely missed everyday.
St Giles gave Maureens family fantastic support during and after her illness and runs on charitable donations - which is amazing considering the care they provide for the terminally ill patients but also the amazing care and after care for the families who are left behind to deal with thier grief.
