Story
On Friday 7th August 2015 Andrew's big sister Sarah passed away at home surrounded by family after battling cancer for over two years.
On the 3rd June 2013, 3 months before her 40th birthday Sarah was diagnosed with lung cancer - she was not a smoker it just felt so unreal and unlucky. Throughout her battle with cancer Sarah advocated for herself, researching into possible treatments and their success rates and discussing these with her consultant. There was one particular treatment that she and her consultant were hoping to try but sadly it didn't become available in time for Sarah to trial it.
It's understandable that Sarah cared deeply about the work that Cancer Research do and it's amazing that over £5,000 has already been contributed to that work in her name. And we are all so incredibly grateful to everyone who has already donated. Andrew and Sarah want to help raise some more to add to the incredible tribute to Sarah that has already started and have committed to raise a further £2,000 to help with the work that Cancer Research are doing.
It's a lot of money and so we want to do a lot to show you how serious we are about raising it. In 2015 Andrew decided he wanted to do something to begin raising money for Cancer Research and he started running a competitive 10k every month... so far he's run 7 races (43.5 miles) with Livvy and Holly there as his cheer squad at all but two of them. He is running a 10k this month, one in March and one in April (18.63 miles) Sarah is currently in training for the London Marathon (26.2 miles) and will run a competitive half marathon (13 miles) as part of her training for good measure... That's a grand total of 101 miles! If just 20 people sponsored us £1 a mile we'd reach our target you could even donate it bit by bit as we achieve those miles.
The "Original Sarah Falvey" (as she coined herself upon our marriage) has always been an inspiration to those around her; never more so than throughout her battle with cancer when she would often say to us, 'just do it, life's too short!' whether it was in response to discussions about having more children, buying a drum kit, running more, watching the football and so here we find ourselves inspired to do more:
"Some people inspire themselves. Amazing people inspire others."
