Story
I am running the London Marathon 2016 in memory of my Dad! I know that Dad would have rather given me my fundraising total than see me run a gruelling 26.2 miles but I am running this for him and he will be by my side all the way! In order to help others.
My wonderful, lovely, funny Dad was sadly and suddenly taken from us only 5 days after his Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis. He was so incredibly brave, actually brave beyond words! and his courage has inspired me fight, on his behalf, raising awareness and funds for research to help stop other families losing loved ones in this way.
Pancreatic cancer currently has a 3% survival rate. It is difficult to screen for, difficult to diagnose and difficult to treat. Pancreatic cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Yet the amount spent on pancreatic cancer research, including early detection, accounts for only one hundredth (1%) of the total cancer research spend. Pancreatic Cancer UK is calling for more to be spent on pancreatic cancer research through their Campaign For Hope.
I miss Dad so much, please help me help others.
Thank you from the bottom on my heart!
Sarah xx
