Story
I'm back from the USA and have just over a month to train for the Run to the Beat half marathon on 8th September!
I have decided to raise some money for Alzheimer's Society, a charity committed to defeating dementia through research.
Dementia is a not a natural part of growing old, but is caused by specific diseases and conditions of the brain. The most common of these is Alzheimer's. Symptoms of dementia include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding.
There are currently 800,000 people with dementia in the UK, and by 2021, there will be over a million people with the condition.
Dementia is most common in older people - one in three people over 65 will develop dementia.
Money donated to Alzheimer's Society goes towards vital research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of this disease, to improve treatment for people today and search for a cure for the future.
Having seen my Daddard and my Granny deteriorate in recent years and months with this terrible condition, this is a cause which is very important to me.
I would be grateful for anything you could donate, to give me a push around those 13 miles but most importantly, to support the work of this brilliant charity.
Thank you! :)
