Story
On 3rd July 2020 I went into hospital expecting to get medication for my previously diagnosed condition of Chrones that I received before lockdown.
I was shattered to hear that not only had they found a tumour but they needed to operate immediately.
I was admitted to hospital in March with a hole in my Bowel and after being in for a week, I was discharged being told I was to have a full colonoscopy the week after. This never happened as we went straight into crazy COVID and therefore I wasn’t picked back up again until nearly four months later.
I have stage 3c colon cancer which means that it has spread into my tissue, muscles and lymph nodes. I start chemotherapy at some point in august.
I am a healthy 35 year old who doesn’t smoke (often) or drink (often) and lives a relatively normal healthy lifestyle. There isn’t a reason for me to develop this and this is what I have struggled with the most. Until I started reading and found so many young people that have also gone through the exact same and had the same thoughts as me.
Life is particularly hard at the moment but for a charity who relies solely on public funding it’s extra tough as none of this is happening at the moment.
Me and my family are going to be walking the 5 miles sponsored walk to try and do our bit and give back to a charity that has touched us very quickly and suddenly in the last three weeks. It should be a big group walk but corona virus has changed that so we now decide on a date to walk in September locally. I will decide on a date once I get my hospital dates.
It is my birthday in two weeks and I would just love to reach and exceed my fund raising target of £150!
Thanks for reading guys x x x
