We both have reasons close to our heart, that have pushed us to abseil 100ft down the side of the hospital to raise money for the cancer ward of Yeovil district hospital. 

Following tragic events last year the world lost a really special person, Claire was just 42 when she lost her courageous battle with cancer last May. She fought tirelessly from diagnosis to the very end to try and beat the odds and every step of the way her positivity continued to shine through.

She was a daughter, sister, mum to two beautiful children, Faith & Jay and soulmate to her husband, Paul. Claire lit up a room, had an infectious smile and went above and beyond to make others happy. Claire has left a huge gap in all of our lives.

We will also be doing this in memory of Jackie Cochrane, who sadly lost her battle very recently. Jackie was a wonderful woman, a great friend, colleague, doting mother, grandmother and wife. She also battled this disease with courage and bravery and was forever putting others before herself. She will also leave an unfillable void in many people's lives.

1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime and it’s likely that we all know someone that is suffering or has suffered from cancer. The more awareness we can raise the more chance we have of being able to fight this awful disease, therefore raising money for the cancer ward to help other families seems like the right thing to do.

Gem and I are adrenaline junkies (or so we like to think) and decided there was no better way to challenge ourselves whilst raising money for such a worthy cause.
