Milton Keynes Marathon 2012 · 29 April 2012 ·

1 in 100 people have coeliac disease, yet only 36% are diagnosed. Coeliac UK empowers everyone affected, breaking down barriers, improving everyday life, offering trusted support and advancing research towards a cure. And we do it all so that one day, no one’s life will be limited by gluten.

Story

Hi everyone. As I am sure most of you know I am running the Milton Keynes Marathon on the 29th April to achieve one of my goals in life. Since I have signed up for it, I have decided to run the crazy amount of 26.2 miles for a charity called Coeliac UK. Many of you may not of heard of it, like myself, until my baby nephew was diagnosed with it a few months ago. So let me explain about the disease. Coeliac disease is a serious illness where the body's immune system reacs to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye causing damage to the lining of the gut. It is not a food allergy or simple food intolerance. There is no cure to this apart from a life-long gluten-free diet. If any of you would be so kind to donate a little I would be forever thankful to you and will be thinking of all your generosity along the way to keep me motivated until I cross that finish line. Loads of thanks and Love, Sarah x x x x x
