Story
Dear friends,
As in previous years I am going to do some pedalling to raise money for charity. This time I will be pedalling on the same day as the Landmark Half Marathon in London for Save the Elephants, a charity very dear to my heart.
Save the Elephants was set up by a close family friend, Iain Douglas-Hamilton in 1993. Their headquarters and principal research station are in my beloved Kenya, though their work and influence is throughout Africa. Despite sometimes being dangerous, Iain and his team conduct vital research on elephant behaviour and ecology to provide a fresh insight into their lives and to help protect and defend them from illegal killing by ivory poachers.
My static, indoor bike enables me to pedal from my wheelchair and although the half marathon distance will be an incredibly demanding challenge, I feel strongly that Save the Elephants needs as much support as possible during the uncertain times in which we live.
Without urgent action to save their species, elephants could disappear from the wild within a single generation. Please help me to help these beautiful, gentle giants during these difficult times.
With love and many thanks,
Sarah xxx
