Sarah's 100km walk for Giles

After swearing that I would never walk 100km in one hit ever again, I find myself fully signed up to the Ultra Challenge Cotswolds Way 100km walk at the end of June.
I am raising money and awareness for the Sands charity, in memory of Giles Huw Cooper-Hall. I cannot find the words to describe the sadness that continues to fill my heart when I think about Giles' death. When Giles died, I sought advice from the Sands website about how best to support his beautiful Mums - Ally and Ruth. Knowing that the advice came recommended from parents, families and professionals who have all experienced the loss of a baby, gave me the courage to be fully present with my friends rather than burying my head in the sand because the grief was too much to bear.
It almost feels selfish of me to be describing my own grief journey when I know that it is nothing compared to that of his parents, but actually this is the whole point of Sands - the death of a baby affects us all, and Sands are there to listen to and give advice to any one of us.
So Giles, this walk is for you. It is for all the walks of life that you didn't get to experience.
