Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most will be aware, it's coming up for a year since we all said our final goodbyes to my wonderful husband and best buddy, Paul. The Colvin Clan suggested we do something special together to remember Paul, so on Saturday 6th September we are walking (not running!) 10k in the twilight at Glamis Castle in support of Marie Curie. This will be followed by a picnic, my contribution to which will be Baileys Hot Chocolate...it's what Paul would have wanted!
Everyone probably knows that Marie Curie provide a support service for the terminally ill. This service, along with support from many others, allowed Paul to stay at home with me and Ember, surrounded by love, friends, family in comfortable and familiar surroundings. We were blessed by the arrival of Elsie and Val, two very special Marie Curie nurses, who came into our home and looked after Paul. Both were amazing - at providing excellent care for Paul, incredible support for me and generally acting like surrogate mums for both of us during the time they were with us. Neither of us, but Paul in particular weren't keen on the idea of "strangers" coming in - Paul because he thought we'd get robbed, and me because my housekeeping skills and dusty skirting boards would be called into question.... All unfounded, and both Elsie and Val soon became part of the furniture and family. Nothing short of outstanding.
Anyway, knowing the positive impact their presence had, I want to raise as much as I can, in the next two days, so that others might also benefit from such wonderful support.
£500 is my target, and I'm sure I can achieve it if you can donate just a little....or a lot...whichever you prefer, or can manage! I will be very appreciative, as will the families who are lucky enough to benefit from the services of Marie Curie.
Thank you xxxxxx
