Story
We are Amy, Lydia and Sarah, and here's why we're doing this.....
Sarah: I quite like heights, the idea of standing on top of the Tower excites me. Stepping off them is another matter. Just thinking about stepping over the edge - with only a flimsy piece of rope being between me and a rather messy end - makes me feel quite ill. It's a REALLY long way down! I'm terrified! But, Becky is amazing and having a Chaplain at Gordano School to encourage and support pupils as they navigate life, friends, exams, is brilliant. I've had the pleasure of working with her and she's great! So please sponsor to continue the great work of Chaplaincy. Or frankly, sponsor me just because you're a sadistic so and so and you want to watch me suffer! Seriously. Ask anyone who has seen me try to climb. It's going to be painful!!!!!!!
Lydia: Through abseiling down St. Peter's bell tower, I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone for a good cause. Schoolchildren need support more then ever, especially with the rise of social media, and so boosting the chaplaincy is very important.
Amy: Abseiling down St Peters tower is allowing me to try something I haven't done before, as well as helping Becky's chaplaincy support. I am a member of Gordano School's Christian Union Club and look forward to seeing what Becky can do to help people to get to know Christianity and God more in school!
(And if you want to know more, here's the official blurb.... There has been a Chaplain in Post at Gordano school for almost 3 years now, the wonderful Becky Cox. She has devoted her time to supporting students in various ways, we all know how tough school can sometimes be and how stretched the wonderful staff and teachers can be, Becky has been quite literally a Godsend. Churches Together in Portishead along with the school want to see that role continue so please help me raise enough along with others to make that a reality.
