Story
I’m running the London marathon in April 2014 – After almost all the Bedry’s have ran it I decided it’s about time I step up and take on the challenge.
I work in the marketing Department at Prospect Hospice in Swindon and see what challenges people have to face on a daily basis. For that reason I want to contribute in an active way by taking on a personal challenge to complete my first Marathon at the same time raising money for the Hospice.
So why should you sponsor me?
I’ve been playing sport all of my life but only recently started running, this was thanks to my mum truly inspiring me at the London marathon for two years in a row (now if my mum can do it, I can too surely?) I’ve always been a netball player and if you’ve known me for a while didn’t really like to play anything other then GS mainly because I got the glory but also because I was lazy!! Starting to run has given me a new lease of life so I have a HUGE thank you to Mummy Bedry for this, I now like to run on a netball court even when playing GS, enjoy long walks around Wiltshire countryside ( much to Williams disgust) and the health benefits and the fact you can eat more is just fantastic. I never thought in a million years that I would be watching the London marathon let alone running it, so I’m determined to put in the hours, focus on the running and even give up alcohol (if this isn’t a good enough reason I don’t know what is?) to make sure I’m at my peak and of course beat my mum and sisters time!!
Now on to the real reason, Prospect Hospice is Swindon’s local charity that is close to so many friends and families hearts. It’s truly a humbling place to work and there is not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate everything and everyone in my life. Running the London Marathon and raising money for it, is something minor that I can help towards the work and services provided to those that will come into prospects care. I know from working here, how much the patients and families appreciate the work that the prospect hospice provides; this wouldn’t be possible without the community fundraising and people like you!
If I could kindly ask you to reach into your pockets however big or small and sponsor me I will love you forever and promise to finish the London marathon with a smile on my face :)
