Story
When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.I'm taking on the Stroke Association's Walk Your Marathon challenge and raising vital funds to rebuild lives after stroke.
In 2013 my husband Tim aged 45 had a traumatic carotid dissection leading to stroke. Thanks to first class care at Bournemouth hospital Tim was lucky to survive and return home quickly. What we didn’t realise was the complicated and unexpected problems that can follow a brain injury such as depression and behaviour changes. Without support from the stroke association we would have struggled to understand and cope and adapt to these changes.
Now we want to raise money for the stroke association and help them to help others like us come through these life changing events and live life fully again.
