Story
February 2020 was the month our lives changed when we were faced with the devastating news that our beautiful mum had cancer.
The following month a global pandemic arrived which presented multiple hurdles along the way of our journey.
May 2020 arrived which was the start of mums chemotherapy sessions, which she faced alone, due to the ongoing complications of the pandemic.
August 2020 mum faced a daunting 9 and a 1/2 hour operation in Derriford hospital (70 miles away) separated from her loved ones and alone by herself. She had a 17 night stay in isolation away from us all, three of which she spent in intensive care.
October 2020 was the start of more aggressive rounds of chemotherapy for her which had extreme effects on mums deteriorating health resulting in many separate admissions to Treliske hospital.
December 2020 following a clear scan we had a degree of hope. However, in April 2021 after another admission to Treliske we had the devastating news that the cancer was back... but in fact it had never gone away.
Soon thereafter, we heard that the diagnosis was terminal, with mum eventually needing round the clock care from the amazing palliative care team and community district nurse team.
On 24th August 2021 mum was admitted to Mount Edgecumbe hospice where the care was second to none, not only did they care for her but the whole family as well. The outstanding care continued when mum was transferred to St.Julias hospice in Hayle where she spent her final days surrounded by her loved ones.
The care Sara received from both hospices was wonderful, the nurses and doctors were all so kind and caring ,to not only mum, but to each and everyone of us who spent time there with her.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us along the horrendous journey we have had to face.
We would like to dedicate all proceeds of this page to the outstanding care and help that the hospices and other care teams provided for our mum. We all know that she wouldn't want it any other way.
