Story
Pauline Bedford, our special Mum, Mama and friend had a stroke on 24th February 2023. It was a large stroke but she was recovering, albeit slowly. On 1st May, she had another stroke and died on 15th May.
We will always be grateful for the opportunity to make more memories with her while she was recovering from her first stroke, but we wish there was a way to have prevented it from happening in the first place or at the very least to prevent a second stroke. We wish more could have been done to aid her recovery after the first stroke. We are raising money to honour her memory and maybe eventually see a future where these wishes may be realised.
When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That's because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. The Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. They believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. And its a team effort to get there. Their specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community and the generosity of amazing people like you.
