We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Hello!

Im swimming 22 miles for Diabetes UK, in their Swim22 event.

I'm doing this because you may, or may not know that my husband got taken ill in August 2013, and after a few hospital staff saved his life after an eventful 24 hours in A&E he was diagnosed as having Type 1 Diabetes. He is a fit, young, healthy man, and it scared us both a lot to have this illness thrust up on us. After just a few months he has returned to his normal fit and healthy self, though we are still trying to get our heads around him being one hundred percent, completely Insulin dependant.

We woudln't have been able to do this without the help of everyone we have met during this time, and we have become more than aware that Diabetes is a mindfield. It effects peoples lives beyond all belief, and needs more public understanding.

So I am doing this swim to raise much needed funds for Diabetes UK, and also to beging a mammoth struggle to get fit along side my husband, who now has to work out how to get fit whilst maintaining his sugar levels :)

So thats my story, and I would really like to thank you for your donation. Will leep you posted on how I am doing and will do my best :)
