Story
This year, Oscar and I are joining forces to fund raise for Duchenne UK. In June, I'll be getting on my bike again, together with my dear friend Sophie, to take part in the Duchenne Dash (a 200 mile ride from London to Paris which we will complete in 24 hours) which is extra special this year as it is the 10 year anniversary ride.
More importantly, though, my wonderful Oscar is committing to taking part in the Captain Tom fundraiser, on the last weekend of April. Most of you will remember that Oscar has taken part in this challenge for the past 2 years, both times completing a walking challenge over the course of the weekend. Sadly, Oscar's muscles are now too weak to be able to do this. So, instead, he will be completing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, which he will do over the course of a week.
I may be biased, but my son is brilliant - he's wonderfully, magnificently, amazingly brilliant. The world is a better and brighter place for having him in it.
We know that, one day, Duchenne UK and science will win and will overcome this debilitating disease. Please help us help Duchenne UK to achieve its aim and allow our beautiful boy to carry on shining bright.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support - we really appreciate it. Sara, Olly, Ben, Harry and Oscar.
Team Oscar supports Duchenne UK a charity that has one clear aim to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys. Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development.Together, we will end Duchenne.
