Story
In June 2018 our beautiful daughter, Emily, passed away aged 13 following a 3 year battle with a brain tumour. It was known from diagnosis she would have a poor prognosis and that any treatment would hopefully give us more time together.
We spent this time with Emily and her brother planning trips and holidays and living life as fully as possible. Emily had radiotherapy and chemotherapy but never let it stop her doing anything.
However strong we were as a family we would not have coped without the help, love and affection given to us all by Charlton farm hospice. They became an extension of our family and Emily was always excited to visit. When we stayed there the staff looked after the children so we could have much needed rest. The atmosphere was always welcoming and calm. People always associate a hospice with sadness but we had 3 years of joy and fun at Charlton farm and made many memories. Emily very much lived during this time.
Emily made her decision to spend her last days at the hospice and the staff treated us with so much care and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
So many families still need these services and they can only remain open with the generosity of the public. Covid has meant fundraising has been severely affected and like so many charities the children's hospice south west are desperate to raise as much as possible. Please give something so families like ours can spend precious time together making wonderful memories while being supported and cared for.
