Story
St Catherine's Hospice's biggest fundraising event returns on Saturday 3rd September, three years since their last one.
Sara’s beloved husband, best friend and soulmate since they met in 1989 sadly lost his life to bowel cancer in March 2021 and St Catherine’s Hospice is where Paul spent his final days. Sara doesn’t know what she would have done without them; from the support they provided when Paul was still at home, to the care & attention they showed Paul during his final days at the hospice. The staff were there for them both at a time when so many restrictions were in place due to the pandemic.
St Catherine’s Midnight Walkers could chose a 7, 13 or 20 mile route. Our team - “Team Brevent” - has chosen the full 20 miles, to walk in memory of Paul as he was much loved by so many.
Our team is made up of Sara; Paul’s two brothers Gary & Steve, and their wives Sandy & Jackie; Paul & Sara’s nephew, Lewis; Paul’s late sister’s widower, Dennis; Paul’s cousin, Sharon; and Paul & Sara’s Best Man from their wedding in 1994, Dave. The name “Brevent” was chosen by Sara after the mountain in the stunning French Alps in Chamonix where Sara scattered Paul’s ashes in March this year.
If you are able to support us in our 20-mile challenge as we walk under the stars along the Horsham perimeter, it would be greatly appreciated. Please help make every step count to enable St Catherine's to be there for more terminally ill people when it absolutely matters the most.
Thank you so very much.
Sara, Gary, Steve, Sandy, Jackie, Lewis, Dennis, Sharon & Dave
