Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year was quite a year for us all! I started the year training to run the London Marathon in April, when it was cancelled I got the idea into my head to give it a go anyway and try to run the distance on the day. With the amazing support of the family I achieved my goal running around the local fields - it felt amazing and taught me so much about myself and need for preparation, together with the fact I had raised, through so much generosity, much needed funds for Treloar’s.
This year, when I was asked if I would like to try again, Alistair asked me how I would feel if I was not part of the actual run, if it happened! Although the training had eased, I have found the running just amazing during lockdown and now enjoying discovering new routes and building up the miles again and gearing up for serious training.
The great thing for me is that I now know that it is possible - I have learnt anything is possible if I believe in myself and what I am doing and remain positive - it certainly was not easy, and the last few miles were really tough, but supporting others is just incredible and such a wonderful human nature - and how much that can be gained. Running is an incredible means for me to mentally cope with a lot of things - I also gain a lot of joy watching our spaniel, who has been a very loyal companion, enjoying the running with me (I wish I had a tenth of her energy!) - we discovered last April that a full Marathon was enough to tire her out!
Many friends were incredibly kind and generous last year, and I am reluctant to pester everyone again, but as we all know, charities have suffered big time during the pandemic and if you feel able to support me this October - it will mean the world to me and also to those at Treloars.
Thank you so very much for your support - with much love and gratitude
