Story
For those of you that know Andy (Andrew); you will know that he is just 47 years young and terminally ill with cancer.
Sadly, Andy's cancer went from stage 1 in July 2018 to stage 4 in October 2018! After a major surgery to remove a very large cancerous tumour, Andy started what he hoped would be his recovery, to find out the devasting news last Friday that the cancer had returned and that the cancer is now terminal!
He isn’t giving up without a fight however! In addition to this online fundraiser we are hosting a separate ‘Celebration of Life’ family fundraiser on Saturday 23 February, he will also very soon be getting married and starting chemotherapy to extend his life as much as possible so that he can spend the quaity time he has left with his loved ones. He desperately wants to meet his first grandchild who is due in a few months time.
Andy has chosen this charity as the scanners detected his cancer and he knows how hard pushed the NHS funding is in respect of buying new scanners and how long the waiting list for such a service is. He said, "If we had more scanners, it could save more lives and help ensure that others don’t have to wait too long to get earlier diagnostic and treatment".
Liz Bailey, Superintendent Radiographer, said, "It is predicted that 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer at some point in their life and the scanners are vital to their diagnosis and treatment”.
ALL monies raised will be donated to Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity 'CT Scanner Appeal'.
Please donate as much as you can and share this post to help reach our target of just £1000. It would mean so much to Andy.
Thank you x
