Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have created this money raising event to help raise money for a very special cause.
Being in lockdown there is not much that we can do so I thought that I would crochet my way through it. BORING!!!!! I hear many of you say and yes it is for many but it is better than doing nothing and I find it quiet therapeutic, it calms the mind, & gives the fidgety hands something to do apart from raid the fridge haha.
I am not just crocheting I have applied for the Guinness World Record for the longest individually crocheted scarf. The current record is 150 meters & I am aiming for 200 meters. Yikes that is a lot of wool, bring on the cups of tea to keep me going.
I do not have a date yet for the event as it is a 12 week waiting time, so I have at least 12 weeks to set that crochet needle on fire.
WHY AM I DOING THIS???
I personally have had to use the services of the NHS too many times to count due to my health conditions, and every time I visit a hospital or doctors surgery I am thankful for all that they do.
I have a rare inflammatory disease called Sarcoidosis which is a disease where the immune system does not work correctly affecting multiple organs in the body. I live each day in pain, reduced mobility, breathing difficulties, nerve damage, benign pituitary tumour, suspected heart failure and so I could go on. However, people around me do not know this as I carry on with a smile on my face, because life does send us trials and we have to choose how we deal with them. We either allow them to control our lives in a negative way or we do our best to control them.
With Sarcoidosis there is no cure, but that is not the worst of it, there is no specialist medical help in many many hospitals ( I have 5 consultants in 3 different hospitals, who do not always communicate with each other), and the research into this is at a minimum.
I hope that by doing this it may help fund specialist doctors or at best highlight the need for these doctors. I was going to choose a Sarcoidosis charity but seeing how hard the NHS have been working and how much pressure they have been put under, I feel that they would benefit from a donation no matter how small.
I worked myself for nearly 20 years as an Operation Department Practitioner, so I know exactly what they must be going through at the moment and I thank them all.
I left the NHS because of my health but I retrained as a Ho;istic Health Practitioner, so now I run my own little Complementary Health Care business from home, where I treat my client for their own problems, this is great not only can I still help others, I can work at a pace that suits me, plus I can be at home for my family. I am truly appreciative of this each and every day.
Please donate what ever you can as every penny counts.
