This weather better calm down!

Updated on Mar 6th 2012 at 5:05 PM from the JustGiving API:

Training began last night with Fartlek sessions (Google it). Torture! Thankfully a Molton Brown bath sorted me out :)

Updated on Mar 16th 2012 at 9:18 PM from the JustGiving API:

Longest run ever on Sunday - 6.5 miles! Some speed work today, which was really tough but feeling good. Just over 10 weeks to go!

8 miles today, no music, no stopping, felt great! 7 weeks to go :)

Hey all! As you may know, I used to be a bit of a chubber. I tell people this all the time, which makes some of them uncomfortable (sorry).

I do this because I'm now slimmer and a LOT fitter, mostly thanks to eating less pizza (but not eating NO pizza), making better choices, and going outside to do a simple activity that I am now a bit obsessive about - running.

Last year my equally flab-fighting friend Marie Clare suggested I sign up for the Edinburgh Half Marathon 2012, with her and her husband Jamie. So I did, as soon as registration opened. It's on Sunday 27th May and I'll be taking my wonderful mum along as support.

This is no New Year's Resolution that I'm going to break. This is 13.1 miles of sheer terror, mental gymnastics, and most likely physical pain. And sweating.

Just to show you how seriously I'm taking this, I've included a disgusting picture of myself taking part in a 5k. No flattering angles here guys. It's up there, and it's not pretty.

Why? Partly for fun, and also to raise money for Scope. If you don't know much about them, all you do need to know is that they are the UK's leading disability charity for children and adults with celebral palsy, and those who support them. This is important to me and I would love for you to help out in any way.

There are a couple of ways to donate. If you're lazy like me and don't want to get off your arse to get your bank card, you can even do it via text which is free to send (text SARA78 followed by the amount to 70070 - eg "SARA78 £5").

Please understand there is NO donation too small. If you're embarrassed about processing a 45p donation, you can stealthily slip me it in person.

Thank you so much in advance. Rest assured every name that appears down there will be another one I'm thinking about as I'm heading towards the finish line.
