Story
Every life is created equally
Every life deserves to be lived
Every heart deserves to beat
What is the Little Hearts project?
Congenital heart defects are one of the most common genetic birth defects worldwide with over 1 million babies born with the structural deformity (1 in 100 births). Over 100,000 will not live to see their 1st Birthday and thousands more die before they reach adulthood.
Unfortunately, countries in development continental to: Africa, Asia and the Middle East face a very low survival rate due to:
* A lack of skilled health professionals.
* A lack of investment in the cardiac sector.
* Where there is the facility and expertise: it is beyond the financial means of the poor.
Now apply this to your loved ones, you would do something about it right? Born in these countries isn’t a choice, it should be our duty to facilitate, when identifying we can save lives as a community. Ignoring this deadly killer is tantamount to a death sentence on the many babies afflicted with this disease.
Each life saved costs £1,500. Collaborating alongside North African societies within universities across London; the ultimate target is to raise £15,000 collectively to save 10 lives. This is going to require a huge input from the community around us but together it is possible. Upon reaching target; I will personally travel along with the team of medical volunteers performing the surgeries and document the process. Every donation means alot not just to me, the families of the children and surely to yourself knowing you are quite literally saving a life.
Some hearts - Simply counting down till their very last beat.
Without a heartbeat we are lifeless; be the reason a heart can continue beating.
