Story

Santia have traditionally held Summer Team Building Events for each regional team to participate in, these have been viewed as a great success by those in attendance so this year, we thought we’d fundraise at the same time.

Location to maximise attendance was a key consideration to improve the numbers participating and therefore, fundraising.  To make the walk a bit of a challenge, research highlighted a number of peaks in locations close to our teams.

The Scottish and North East of England Teams will walk The Cheviot mountain in Northumberland National Park given it is ideally situated between Newcastle and Edinburgh, it’s the highest peak in the area at 815m.

The Midlands Team will walk Kinder Scout mountain in the
Peak District National Park given it is ideally situated between Sheffield and Manchester, it’s the highest peak in Derbyshire and the West Midlands.

The Welsh and South East of England Teams will walk Pen Y Fan mountain in the Brecon Beacons, it’s the highest mountain in South Wales at 886m.

With over 50% of the entire business signed up to participate, the next steps will be to train in preparation and fundraise to help support a charity which is close to all of us here at Santia, this also serves to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos.

Approximately 2,500 people die from Mesothelioma each year in the UK alone.  The charity Mesothelioma UK is a national resource centre dedicated to providing free specialist information, support and improved care and treatment for those affected by the disease, the charity relies totally on voluntary donations.

We hope you will be able to help us support this great cause, thank you.
