Story
100km, that's 62 miles, in 24 hours ..... why did I agree to this!!
We're walking from Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire to Brighton in Sussex along the South Downs Way - non stop! We've trained individually and once all together when we walked around Guernsey in June as part of the annual Itex Walk going around the coastal path, a mere 40 miles!
The Trailwalker event supports Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust, both worthy causes, and is actually run in conjunction with the Gurkhas themselves. At the very end of the walk, which should be early Sunday morning for us, we will be given a Gurkha curry and I can imagine that will be very welcome.
There is no doubt this is a challenge, just walking for 24 hours will be hard enough but during that time we'll also climb the equivalent of the height of Ben Nevis. Knowing how I felt, and how my feet were, after our "short" 40 mile walk around Guernsey I'm not sure I'm exactly looking forward to this
I hope you feel the charities and the challenge are worthy of your support and thank you in advance for your sponsorship.
