Story
Thank you so very much for your support & donation.
We had a fabulous day out as the family & friends came along to cheer me along the 10K run.
The atmosphere was second to none with 10,000 runners in central London and the weather was very hot indeed!
I posted a few pictures and a video from the race on this page.
My son Alexi (8y) joined me for the last 2K along embankement and all the way to the Mall. All the people along the way cheered even more so when they saw him. I was such a proud maman running by his side that I crossed the 10K finish line in tears holding his hand.
Thank you to AICR who also provide great support.
Love to all and please carry on raising awareness about cervical cancer & ensure you do your smear test! Be & stay safe xxx

Thanks for taking the time in your busy lives to look at my Just Giving page! I want to share my story with you all in order to generate greater awareness of CERVICAL CANCER as its prevention is so easy!
Last year I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This was a great shock to me as it came out of nowhere. As would be the case for any mother faced with her own mortality, my first thought was for Alexi & Lucas (my 2 gorgeous boys). I wanted to make sure they were not exposed to any stress and so I decided not to tell them. It was extremely difficult time as I felt I had to keep a brave face around my friends and family.
I eventually underwent an operation in December which ran smoothly, but January was a very long and terrifying month as I waited to find out if it had been successful. So this Christmas is definitely one I wish to put behind me, and I am approaching this year as a fresh start in my life – I have been told that I am now in the clear but will still need to have a checkup every 3months.
The events of the past few months have served as a true “wake-up call” for me. It has reinforced to me not only my own mortality, but that of everyone else around me and the fragility of life. Most importantly, it has served to show me ways in which I can be of help to others, and to appreciate every day as a gift. So, the time has come for action!
I have drafted for myself a Life “To Do” List, and right up there is my mission to create greater awareness surrounding cervical cancer. My path will begin with a 10K run in order to take advantage of my current health, and to raise as much money as possible for AICR, a cancer research charity. Running has never been my forte (!) and so I have been slogging it out at the gym in preparation. Please help me along the long road and to the finish line by donating as much as you can spare for this worthy cause that is truly close to my heart.
I would urge you also to speak to your friends, family, and anyone else you may cross paths with in order to highlight and raise awareness about the simple prevention that EVERYONE should follow:
Take a yearly SMEAR test – they are free and simple to get done. It is so easy to get caught up in our busy lives, and to let such things slip. But this could cost you your life, and could have cost my children their mother.
