Story
Having said never again after the Borneo trek for Weldmar in 2017, here I go again on another adventure! They say time is a great healer and it's true. Over the last 5 years or so, I've come round to thinking of the Borneo trek as a great adventure for a great cause, through which I made great, lifelong friends. Memories of the injuries (none of which were long lasting) have faded and I'm now ready to take on another challenge. Mad? Yes, I must be! I'm hoping this time sand will provide a softer landing than the rocky river bed in Borneo and I'll come home tired but uninjured!
I don't really like asking people to donate money towards my trip, particularly in current times, but if you could donate even a little, it would mean a lot to the hospice. Just so you know, I will be paying 50% of the minimum amount that I have to raise for this adventure (which is £1500) myself to cover the cost of travel and accommodation. So you won't be paying for me to go on 'holiday'. Every penny you donate here will go towards the vital services provided by Weldmar Hospicecare.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and read about my latest madcap adventure!

*** UPDATE ***
We’re back! My trek buddy, Beverley, and I successfully completed our Sahara trek. It was hot and sandy (no surprises there). What did surprise me was how windy it was at times! And how the sand got everywhere!
We trekked nearly 30 miles over varied terrain – desert ‘roads’, rocky dried up river beds and magnificent sand dunes. We camped each night and our cooks whipped up delicious tagines and baked bread in the sand for us to enjoy. We watched beautiful sunsets, rode camels, danced round the camp fire and slept under the stars.
Don’t get me wrong, it was hard, but I never expected it to be easy. We laughed, we cried, we made friends for life. But most importantly, we raised vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare. At the last count, as a group we had raised £50,000 including gift aid.
It’s not too late to donate! Thank you to everyone who has already donated. It really is very much appreciated.
What did I learn from this trek? That I can’t put up a tent. But that is another story!
