Each year, we look forward to standing with CURE to celebrate epilepsy research progress and recommit to funding the next wave of promising science. While we can't be together in person this year, we will still Unite to CURE Epilepsy. Now more than ever, it is critical that we continue to fund the groundbreaking research that will one day lead us to a cure for epilepsy, and it's up to us to be part of the progress.
CURE is incredibly important to our family. When our daughter, Liv, was just six weeks old she was diagnosed with epilepsy after suffering multiple seizures in which she lost consciousness and turned blue in our arms. Thanks to her amazing team of doctors, early intervention specialists, and her vivacious personality, Liv is approaching the other side of daily medications, EEGs and hopefully the fear that lives in the back of our minds that a seizure can strike at anytime.
Epilepsy research, and CURE in particular, desperately need support. Epilepsy impacts 65 million people worldwide — more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinson's combined — yet receives fewer federal dollars per patient than each of these. There is so much stigma attached to this disease, and by raising funds and awareness for CURE, it's our hope we can help to change the conversation around epilepsy.
Please help us support this amazing organization in honor of our sweet Liv by donating and/or tuning in on Thursday, September 24. This live streamed event, featuring world-class entertainment from country music star Eric Church and live host Mike Barnicle of MSNBC's Morning Joe, is designed to transcend geography, bringing us, the dedicated supporters, together to team up and raise critically needed funds to help CURE achieve our mission of finding a cure for epilepsy. Thank you so much for your support.
With gratitude,
Sandra, Andrew, Temma & Liv
