About Alzheimer’s Society:
Every three minutes, another person in the UK develops dementia. That’s 480 people every day, embarking on a frightening, isolating journey which – without treatments and limited support – leads to untold pain, suffering and sadness.
Dementia is now the UK’s biggest killer. Despite this, of the world’s top ten killer diseases, it’s the only one we can’t cure, prevent or even slow down. Amazingly, dementia research still receives just one-seventh of the equivalent funding for cancer.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we’re putting this right. Every day, our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to bring about change. As well as investing in ground-breaking research, we’re delivering precious support to those living with the condition today, to create a society where people with dementia are truly treated as equals.
