Story

THE CHALLENGE IS TO WALK “THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA”

To raise funds for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.

“ How can you walk The Great Wall of China” if you can’t walk up the steps in Lyme Regis and you come over faint when you walk up Branscombe Hill” was the response from my husband when I said I had signed up for the walk.  The response from my friend – who walks miles and miles was “Do you know what you are letting yourself in for?  You don’t do walking!!! You only do five star hotels!! I hope you are going to have the doctor check you over before you go!!.”

If it wasn’t for such a good cause – I probably would never had thought of taking on the challenge – but what the heck – I am not getting any younger and I want to do something challenging  and raise money for this great cause, before I get too old!!!!

St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice is celebrating 30 years of caring next year and this walk will be part of their fundraising activities.  Over eighty percent of what they spend on patient care through the Hospices and community nurses is met from donations of one kind or another, but over eighty percent of the income needs to be raised through donations.

Every day I come across people who have or know someone who have been cared for by St Margaret’s.  How can you not support a place that cares so much for people. I am committed to raising as much money as possible for this special place.  I will get fit (somehow), I will be ready to take on this challenge in October.  I just need your support, as little or as much as you can give would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much for visiting my page.  I look forward to hearing from you.
