Story
I was 10 years old when my grandad had a episode,he woke us all up,he was fully dressed, chair hanging from his walking stick and said to us all " see you later am off to the mine " i did not understand at the time what was happening, until later in life after he passed i asked my mum and she told me he had alzheimers.Years later it hit our family again this time my dad got a type of dementia,i moved to my parents home and aling side my sister and mum looked after dad until only mum was able to do, so we could preserve dads dignity.Dad passed away 7 years ago and now am a caregiver.I support dementia clients and others.Every time i do a visit is so rewarding knowing that i have helped and supported that person a little has i supported my dad over his last years of life.
