Story
1 in 300 people will receive a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), yet there are only 5,000 people living with MND in the UK at any one time due its progression. One of those people is my wonderful mum who was diagnosed in 2016, just after my second daughter was born.
My mum bravely fights this disease daily, with life getting more and more challenging. The disease has had a devastating impact on her ability to eat, move and communicate. She is dependent on those around her (most notably my dad and daily carers) for absolutely everything.
My mum has provided so much support, love and inspiration to those around her and in honour of her, I’m taking on the challenge to run the London Marathon to raise money to fund research into MND.
MND is devastating disease that challenges our family and every other family touched by it on a daily basis. There is still very limited understanding of the disease and treatment options.
We live in hope, that one day a cure will be found.
The vision of the MND Association is a world free from MND - I hope my 26.2 mile jog will help play some part in achieving that vision.
Thank you for your generous support.
