Story
If you’ve seen any of the Channel 4 Stand up 2 Cancer campaign you’ll understand why I can’t watch it without wanting to do something to help raise funds. Here's a picture of me and my Dad on my wedding day. Take a close look and you’ll see he had tears in his eyes that day – he was sad to ‘lose’ me….eleven years on, I had to deal with losing him to Cancer, and if you look into my eyes at practically any time, the tears are never far away.
That’s why I am asking you to support Stand up to Cancer in my Dad’s memory – but it’s not for him that I am asking for your support, it’s for all of us. We need to do everything possible to prevent cancer occurring in our lives, or in the lives of our loved ones. With 1 in 3 developing cancer, the odds of either you or someone you love being affected are too high to ignore.
So, rather than just asking you to donate, I am organizing a nutritional briefing by Super Wellness Coach, Angela Steel, so that not only are you giving to a good cause, but as a result, you’ll also learn how improving your diet can improve your physical wellbeing, and reduce your risk of developing a chronic disease such as cancer. The briefing be about cover general wellbeing and metabolism, and top tips on how to shift those extra few pounds before Christmas (not the sterling variety!). Tea, Coffee and biscuits will be served, and there’ll be a chance to catch up with friends after the talk, so please come along, bring your friends and let’s all Stand up 2 cancer together.
Foxhills have kindly given me the use of their Library Room for this event, and Angela is also offering her services free of charge to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research. Please pledge whatever you can – a suggested donation in place of a ticket price would be £10 per head. And even if you can’t make it, please support us by making a donation.
Wednesday 14 November 2012 – Foxhills – 10 to 11.30am
