Sandhya Sharma is raising money for Retrak
Story
The photo is of me in our front garden in Kampala, Uganda. Now I'm returning to help children in Kampala who are of a similar age to me when I left!
This September I am volunteering with Retrak to work with street kids and local volunteers in Kampala, Uganda.
I will be part of a Volunteers team who will deliver bespoke HR training sessions for the local volunteers and lead confidence building activities with the children for 7 days. Those of you who know me well, know how passionate I am about HR and children! Add to that the fact that this is all happening in Kampala, the city of my birth, and you can begin to imagine how excited I am!
Seeing people, especially children dealing with poverty and their daily challenges will no doubt be challenging, but hopefully I (and the team) will leave behind some positivity and useful skills too.
I will, of course, pay for my travel and expenses myself but I need your help to raise at least £2000, which will go directly to the projects and work of Retrak. So please contribute, if you can.
Examples of what your donation could be spent on:
£25 – A week of meals
£25 – Supports 3 children to access catchup education classes.
£30 – Provides 6 children with therapy whilst at our centres
£50 – Provides 3 children with safe shelter
£100 – Provides 5 older children with vocational training and/or a business start-up loan.
Retrak is an international charity, based in the North West of England, committed to developing long term programmes that provide a sustainable future for street children and believe that reintegration creates a mutually beneficial and sustainable environment for the child, family and the community.
