Story
On the 2nd of May 2013 at 17:04 my wife Louise gave birth to a beautiful boy Samuel Stuart Daniels. He was born 10 weeks 2 days prematurely and weighed in at only 2 pounds 9 ounces! We didn't get to see him or hold him and I didn't get to cut the cord. Within minutes of giving birth, he was resuscitated, fully ventilated and taken away to the Neonatal Intensvie Care Unit (SNICU) at Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH) where he remained for the next 59 days!
Thankfully for all of us 4 years on and Samuel hasn't been affected by his early arrival.
In march 2014 I completed 3 marathons in 3 days to raise money for Snicu as a thank you for all they did for us.
Now it's Samuel's turn! On Samuel's 4th birthday he turned his first pedals of his fledging cycling career and now he is in training to compete in his first race.
He will be taking part in the escot park cyclocross under 8 race - this is an official British cycling run event. The race entails 20 minutes of cx country riding across fields on grass mud and also whatever the British climate will throw at us. A big challenge for a 4 yr old boy!
His reason for doing this event is to give something back to all the wonderful professionals at Snicu and to thank them again for helping him through the very challenging start to life he had.
Hopefully by doing this he will also provide inspiration to other babies and parents that might be at the start of there premmie journey.
