Story
Hi all,
My name is Sam Pearch and this my story. I have set myself a challenge of running from John O Groats to Lands End in 2020 - 860 miles in 17 days.
In 2015 my mother was struggling with some ear ache, pain behind her ear. She was treated for a ear infection, etc nothing was resolving her pain - so it was suggested she have a scan on the area this resulted in showing something we could never have expected. The scan revealed she had got a 30mm brain tumour at the back of her head, we/family were devastated. There was a lot to take in and many questions asked, you just never expect it to happen to yourself or somebody so close/ personal to you. Towards the end of 2016 a further scan showed the Tumour had grown and decisions had to be made on what to do next. The operation took place in April 2017, my mother is recovering well taking each day as it comes, has started driving again, but has unfortunately had to give up work - some good days, some bad. I feel very fortunate to still have her, I'm very close to my parents - they have inspired me, showed me the way in life to be how I am today a husband and a father myself.
With my mother having had a Brian tumour and doing some research on what they do and what support they need. This brought me to the decision that I need to do something for the Brain Tumour Charity, so here we are - my target of 8600 seems a little ambitious but I am giving myself till the end of 2020 to hit this target and maybe more.
