Sammy’s Cycling Superstars 2022 challenge
After last year’s sad and disappointing outcome and the postponement of our fundraiser, the boys in the saddle are setting their sights on another cycling challenge to raise much needed funds for a wonderful charitable cause.
With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that we are teaming up with the East Riding’s Alzheimer’s Society who will be our chosen charity for 2022 lead by former Hull FC legend – Sammy Lloyd.
Why you may ask ? Well, we all believe that this terrible and often undignified illness affects all walks of life, young and old alike. Alzheimer’s / Dementia will affect most families across the UK at some point, so it is hard to ignore any ‘cry’ for help and support. This is why we are, once again, reaching out to you by asking for your help and support.
This is not just for the rugby league community, but for all those families who find themselves looking for help during a very difficult period in their lives.
This year’s challenge will be staged on Wednesday & Thursday 11th and 12nd May. The group will leave Leeds around 9am heading East via as many of the old disused rail tracks and country lanes as possible.
Selby will be our overnight stopover when we will rest and recuperate. We will then complete our challenge at the home of Hull Kingston Rovers - Hull College Craven Park, Hull.
There will be the opportunity for supporters to walk from our stop off point on day two and then join us at our finishing point. We will be calling at the Boulevard Academy (situated on the site of Hull FC's former ground) to visit the Boulevard memorial which is located there. This part of the challenge is approximately 5.5 miles.
If you would like to get involved in any way please get in touch.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
