Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m running the Cardiff Half in October in memory of my beloved dad, (known to many as Mr X), who we very suddenly and tragically lost in February of this year to biliary sepsis and multi-organ failure.
Doctors speculated that the cause of my dad’s sudden death was metastatic cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer that is known to be asymptomatic until its late stages, with very low survival rate. Unfortunately, by the time he was admitted to hospital, he was too poorly for them to run the necessary tests and biopsy to confirm a cancer diagnosis.
So I am running for Cardiff University’s cancer research in an attempt to help further our knowledge of this stealthy cancer, and to raise awareness of the symptoms to ensure anyone who experiences them is taken more seriously, and matters handled faster by the NHS to save their lives.
I will be joined for the run by my best friend, Kristen, who runs for the same cause in memory of her nan. We would both very much appreciate your support (myself especially, because I’ve never run longer than 3k so I need all the support I can get!) Thank you so much in advance for your donation!
