Story
Hey there!
Sam and I are running the Connemarathon in April for SCI Foundation and would love if you could please support us.
SCI fights hard to alleviate the impact of neglected tropical diseases. They are consistently one of the top rated most cost-effective charities on global charity evaluator givewell.org/.
SCI focus on Schistosomiasis - a parasite affecting over 200 million people globally. It is second only to Malaria in terms of economic impact, but sadly remains poorly funded. The infection is prevalent in poor communities without potable water and adequate sanitation. It largely affects children, with only 44% of those needing treatment receiving it. Three children can be treated for a year for just £1.
This is our first marathon and we are excited to be heading to the West of Ireland, even with the hills ;)
While I am admittedly very used to running, Sam is stepping up the challenge having not ran a 10k in over a year before this. We will keep you posted on the journey to race day. Many more training runs - gloomy and sunny, fast and slow - to squeeze in before then!
We are so grateful for all of your support and thank you for giving what you can.
Mel and Sam
