London Mighty Hike 2024 - full marathon · 1 June 2024 ·

In June 2024, we are hiking a full or half marathon in London to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer.

Story

When I first signed up for this Mighty Hike, I had no idea how different my life would be by the time it actually took place. Everything was fine in December. Come January, my Mum was ill and it wasn’t getting better. At the start of February she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. At the end of March, she passed away having never even had the opportunity to under go treatment.

The Cancer moved incredibly quickly and took her from us in the blink of an eye. Our family and Mum’s huge network of friends was suddenly devastated and left trying to comprehend a reality we never thought possible. Life without our beautiful Kay. Mum was incredible in every way, loved by everyone she knew and worked with and our lives are much colder without her.

Nothing can prepare you for what Cancer does to the person that has it and everyone around them. That’s why this cause is so important and this support is so vital, the disease turns your life into a living hell and it can happen to anyone.

On June 1st, I will complete this Hike in Mum’s memory and in aid of Macmillan cancer support. £250 could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
