Story
Brave,
funny and kind, Toby is my fantastic cousin who lives in Berkshire, and we
share the same love of cycling. In March 2021, at the age of 15yrs, Toby was
diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. This is a form of bone cancer which is incredibly
rare. In Europe Ewing Sarcoma affects
just less than 2 people in every million, with the UK seeing only (approximately)
80 cases a year.
My name is
Sam Brown, I am 11yrs old and live in Peebles Scotland. I have decided I want to raise money to support
2 valuable charities. The first Bone
Cancer Research Trust (bcrt.org.uk) as it is so important to support studies to
progress help for the future families affected.
I will cycle
160 miles over 2 days, at the end of June. 2 miles for each person diagnosed in
the UK each year.
"The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives and the outcome of patients with bone cancer. Despite being small they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation."
I hope I will raise
much needed funds for the charity, increase awareness of this incredibly rare
condition and continue the amazing work BCRT does. Please support me, Toby and this
charity by donating what you can.
Thank you,
Sam
