Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We're aiming to ride the Prudential Ride London; a 100 mile cycle - to raise money for Breast Cancer Care in support of their partnership with our team Sahara Force India F1 and the team's goal to raise £250,000 for the charity by 2020 while increasing awareness of breast cancer.

Our road cycling journey began 2 years ago when Samantha decided to reverse the childhood wrong of swapping her bicycle for a CD player (!) by undertaking a British Cycling rider improvement course. Suffice to say that cycling hasn't come naturally to Samantha. Many hours and days of cycling round Silverstone car park, gradually venturing further up the Halse road, tears, struggles on slopes, wrestling with "clippy" pedals and a winter of hard turbo training in the conservatory later, Samantha is ready to take on the challenge of her first ever "century" ride, doing this in support of a great cause but also to finally prove herself a cyclist. Completing the 100 miles will be a thank you to all the amazing people who have provided fantastic and unwavering support on this journey so far.

Inspired by Samantha's start with cycling, Martin got back on the bike too. The commute to work on knobbly tyres has rapidly become road rides of ever increasing distance, climbing, stupidity and adventure. The most challenging (although enjoyable) rides however, have often been those shared with Samantha where it's been more about surviving changing mood and panic, finding the right supportive words (or not!), and generally hoping we both get to the end without anyone's bike being discarded in a bush forever-more.

We have promised each other (well, Samantha has promised Martin!!) that this 100 mile ride will be enjoyable and there will be smiling faces at the end... This will not be an easy challenge - training has already ramped up and your support will ensure that the Surrey bushes are bicycle free on Sunday 29th July 2018!!!!

A huge thank you for your support for our challenge and our fundraising for a fantastic cause.
