Running for Bliss: 75 Miles in September
In preparation for my London Landmarks Half Marathon, which I am also running for Bliss, I have decided to take on 75 Miles in September.
All my fundraising for Bliss is always in memory of my nephew Ted, who passed away shortly after his first birthday in 2018. Along with honoring Ted's memory, I am raising crucial funds and awareness for Bliss, an amazing charity dedicated to babies born prematurely or sick.
About the Special People in My Life
Ted was born prematurely at just 28 weeks, weighing only 1 lb 9.5 oz. He developed a very rare and incurable heart disease, Pulmonary Vein Stenosis. Despite multiple heart surgeries and a brave fight, Ted passed away shortly after his first birthday on June 16th, in his mum's arms, on his dad's birthday. Even through everything he endured, you would often see Ted with a beautiful and infectious smile on his face which touched so many hearts, and we miss him very much.
My son Shay, now 19 years old, was also born prematurely at 30 weeks. Thanks to the incredible work of charities like Bliss, Shay is now a fit and healthy young man after overcoming many challenges as a premature baby.
Why Bliss Matters
1 in every 7 babies born in the UK requires specialist care. Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. They rely on donations to fund their work, and without our help, they won't be able to reach the 90,000 babies needing neonatal care each year.
How You Can Help
Your donation will help Bliss to:
- Drive improvements in neonatal care
- Ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy
- Provide support to all families with a baby born premature or sick
By donating to my fundraising page, you are supporting a charity that is very close to my heart and making a significant impact on the lives of many families and their precious babies.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
