Story
As many already know, Etta & I had an extended stay in hospital after her birth due to us both contracting an infection caused by Group B Strep. I had no idea this was a thing until recently and it was only due to a trial being run in our hospital that it was picked up.
So our challenge for this April is to raise awareness of this common yet potentially life altering condition, by completing at least 3 marathons in a month (not quite ready to do a whole one at once yet!!!)
Please give, even just a tiny bit to help us on our way to make this condition more widely acknowledged and tested for, so that more babies can be treated promptly and efficiently. Diolch / thank you 😁
Please also pray for some drier weather 🌧️
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable.
