On Sunday the 22nd September I and as many friends, family etc who would like to join me will be taking part in a spnsored walk in Memory of all of our loved ones effected by dementia and Alzheimers.

We will be meeting at Carsington Waters visitors centre at 10am and aim to walk the 8 mile circular walk around the reservoir. Its a buggy & wheelchair friendly route. I would love as many of you to join me as can, you dont have to walk the whole way, just turning up and having a go would mean the world be wonderful. A sturdy pair of shoes or trainers, a packed lunch and a drink, beautiful views and making a difference to a charity that needs all the help it can get...

Throughout the whole of September, The Alzheimer's Society are planning a number of memory walks throughout the UK....however there isnt an organised one toclose to us..... now anyone who knows me/my family well, will know the heartache this horrendous illness has bought to our lives over many, many years. My Grandma Eve, Glenn's Grandma Mary and my beloved Grandad have all been taken by this cruel illness. When my Grandad died on Easter Sunday this year, I made a promise I would do something, no matter how small, to raise money for research, so that, in the future, others will not have to go through what so many are facing today, including my Grandma Anne who isn't aware that the love of her life has died.

Imagine waking every morning , terrified, as you take in the strangers who tend to you, in a room never seen before, although you are told its where you live, losing every last inch of dignity, your freedom, your basic human rights deprived by over stretched care givers paid a pittance to look after you. With each passing day watching someone you love become less than a shadow of the person they were and lose everyone of their memories and happy thoughts is heart breaking.
